Current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland recently made an appearance on comedian Theo Von’s podcast where he shared some controversial opinions. Strickland criticized the perceived softness of society today, particularly Americans.
In the interview, Strickland expressed his belief that people can freely say what they want without facing consequences, which he feels contributes to a lack of resilience. He referenced the lack of accountability in online interactions compared to physical confrontations, highlighting a perceived shift in societal norms.
He then praised former President Andrew Jackson as an example of a time when people were tougher, citing an altercation where Jackson killed a man who insulted his wife. Strickland lamented the perceived loss of masculinity in modern society, pointing to historical examples of men taking direct action to defend their honor.
Strickland is set to defend his middleweight title against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 next month.
