Kimberly Klacik, a political commentator, radio talk show host, and former congressional candidate, emerged victorious in the Republican primary for Maryland’s 2nd congressional district on Tuesday night. This marks her second political primary win, having previously secured the Republican primary for Maryland’s 7th congressional district in 2020. Despite her earlier defeat to Rep. Kweisi Mfume in the general election, Klacik gained national attention when former President Donald Trump commended her 2020 campaign video. The video showcased her walking through disadvantaged neighborhoods in Baltimore County to underscore the alleged neglect by Democrat politicians. Klacik, who is set to challenge Democrat Johnny Olszewski Jr. in the upcoming general election, highlighted issues such as infrastructure decay, vacant homes, poverty, and crime in Baltimore. She criticized the Democratic Party’s decades-long control, citing Baltimore’s ranking as one of the most dangerous cities in the country. Klacik described her commercial as the “most watched campaign ad in U.S. history” and will now face Olszewski, who currently serves as the county executive of Baltimore County.
