Apple has recently released two developer betas of iOS 18, featuring extended support for multiple languages across the lock screen, Siri, keyboard, and search. The update allows users to customize the lock screen to display time in different numerals, with support for 12 languages including Arabic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, and more.

The keyboard on iOS 18 has also received a significant update, introducing trilingual predictive typing across the system. Users can now switch between language scripts easily and type in Latin text to receive suggestions for all three languages. Additionally, the keyboard will remember the last language used for a particular thread in the Messages app, supporting languages such as English, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, and more.

The company has also added support for a Korean and English multiscript keyboard on iOS 18. Furthermore, the update includes improved language search, allowing users to search for different spellings of similar-sounding words in a particular language. For instance, users can search for both “चंद्र” and “चन्द्र” in Hindi.

Other language-related updates in iOS 18 include the addition of live voicemail transcription in Indian English, support for Hindi in the translate app, and live text support for Arabic. The update also includes a new grammar engine for Hindi and Korean, as well as the ability to create contact posters using Indian languages and numerals.

The public version of iOS 18 is expected to be released this fall, with the above-mentioned features available in beta versions. However, users may want to exercise caution when installing beta versions on their primary devices due to potential bugs.
