Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire founder of Meta, has caused a stir with his recent purchase of a $300 million superyacht named Launchpad. This lavish vessel, longer than a football field, has sparked criticism due to Zuckerberg’s climate activism.

According to the Hindustan Times, Mark Zuckerberg, with an estimated net worth of $180 billion, has followed in the footsteps of other tech billionaires by acquiring a luxurious superyacht. The 118-meter yacht, designed by Espen Øin International, features a sleek design with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

The yacht, which set sail in March 2024, boasts a gross tonnage of 5,000 tons and can reach speeds of up to 24 knots, offering an extravagant cruising experience. It currently ranks as the 45th largest yacht globally and includes a helipad for convenient air travel.

Despite the yacht’s impressive features, critics are calling out Zuckerberg for his ownership of a private jet that reportedly burned $158,000 in fuel in two months and now, this superyacht, which is considered highly polluting. Similar yachts owned by others like Roman Abramovich and Jeff Bezos have been criticized for their environmental impact.

The internet has been buzzing with commentary on Zuckerberg’s yacht, with some questioning his commitment to climate change activism. The debate has prompted some to label Zuckerberg’s yacht as a “Luxurious Paradise or a Climate Hypocrite’s Hideaway.”
