The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have evacuated their families and staff to New Orleans ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall in the Tampa area. The team, along with their loved ones, pets, and support staff, have relocated to the city of one of their NFL division rivals, Tulane University, for safety.

“We’ve got everyone accounted for, and we’re all safe,” said Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles after the team’s Wednesday practice. “We’ve secured accommodations for everyone, and we’re just focusing on getting through this storm together.”

The logistics of relocating the entire organization were extensive, with two charter planes required to transport everyone. Additionally, over 200 hotel rooms have been secured for the team’s use during their temporary stay in New Orleans.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield expressed concern for those staying behind in Florida, urging everyone to prioritize their safety. “We’re all thinking about the people who are staying behind, trying to prepare their homes and families,” he said. “It’s a scary situation, but we’re just focusing on getting through it safely.”

Mayfield also acknowledged the potential for the team’s game against the Saints on Sunday to provide a much-needed distraction for those affected by the storm. “We’re all thinking about the people of Florida, and we hope that our game can be a source of hope and entertainment for them,” he said.

With the team now settled in New Orleans, they are preparing for their game against the Saints, while also keeping a watchful eye on the storm’s progress.
