The memory tool for OpenAI’s ChatGPT is reminiscent of the artificial intelligence from Spike Jonze’s movie “Her”. While not as powerful as the AI in the film, ChatGPT’s memory feature suggests a future where bots can engage in more personalized and lifelike conversations.

OpenAI recently introduced a new feature called Memory for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. This feature allows the AI chatbot to store personal details shared during conversations and refer back to them in future chats. While currently only available to Plus subscribers, it is expected to be rolled out to Enterprise and Team customers in the future.

WIRED had early access to ChatGPT’s Memory feature and provided some tips on how to navigate it. Users can opt out of Memory by adjusting settings in the app. Adding information to ChatGPT’s Memory is easy, as the bot automatically collects personal details from conversations, such as names, locations, favorite movies, and more. Users will receive notifications when new information is added to their Memory.

Overall, ChatGPT’s Memory feature enhances the chatbot’s ability to engage in personalized conversations, demonstrating the potential for more advanced AI interactions in the future.
