To get started with your Fitbit, make sure it’s charged and place it near your phone. Then, open the Fitbit app on your Android or iOS device, and follow the prompt to connect the device via Bluetooth. This will automatically log and sync all your physical activities to the app.

When it comes to tracking your sleep, your Fitbit will start logging your sleep patterns automatically once it detects that you’re going into sleep mode. It can also detect naps of an hour or longer. The device can differentiate between light, deep, and REM sleep by monitoring your body’s movements and heart rate if it has a built-in monitor. If the device senses movement that doesn’t match sleep patterns, it will stop logging.

In the Fitbit app, you can view your sleep data on the “Today” tab, showing your sleep duration and other stats from the previous night. If you have a heart rate monitor, your sleep score will be calculated based on factors like movement and deep sleep. You can toggle between different sleep metrics and view detailed breakdowns of your sleep patterns.

Fitbit Premium subscribers can access a Sleep Profile reading that compares your sleep patterns to others of your age and gender. This feature provides insights into your sleep trends and overall sleep quality.
