Houghton University President Dr. Wayne D. Lewis, Jr. recently expressed his opposition to transgender athletes participating in women’s sports, labeling it a “moral stance.” In an interview with WHAM 1180, Lewis emphasized that he could not stay silent on this issue any longer.

He stated, “It is incorrect to allow biological males to compete in girls’ and women’s sports. When I witness young women representing Houghton University and see them at a disadvantage, missing out on well-deserved opportunities, I cannot remain passive. As their president, I must advocate for change.”

Lewis also shared a written statement affirming that the majority of Americans recognize the unfairness of trans athletes in women’s sports. He emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity of women’s athletics and preventing the erasure of their accomplishments.

Throughout his statement, Lewis stressed that permitting men to compete alongside women not only goes against Christian values but also disregards biological differences between the sexes. He urged for a reexamination of policies that prioritize inclusivity for transgender individuals at the expense of women athletes.

Ultimately, Lewis asserted that he will continue to speak out against the issue and encouraged others to join him in supporting fair and respectful competition in women’s sports. His stance garnered support and praise across social media for standing up for female athletes and promoting integrity in athletics.
