During an episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” columnist Douglas Murray argued that Israel is constantly faced with the challenge of not being allowed to win, unlike other countries like Ukraine who are encouraged to win.
Murray highlighted the difficult situation in Gaza, where Israel is forced to supply food to an area controlled by its enemy, Hamas.
He emphasized the need for Hamas to return hostages and criticized the idea that a country can start a war and then pretend they didn’t start it once they begin to lose.
Host Bill Maher agreed that Israel always faces this challenge, contrasting it with the support given to Ukraine during their conflict with Russia.
Murray pointed out the double standard at play, where Ukraine is cheered on for winning while Israel is never allowed to fully emerge victorious.
