A multi-agency operation in San Antonio, Texas, resulted in the arrest of a notorious Tren de Aragua gang enforcer and 19 other individuals suspected of involvement with the transnational gang. The raid, which took place at an apartment complex on the city’s north side, was prompted by multiple complaints of gang activity, including human trafficking, narcotics, and threats to apartment employees.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus announced the arrests during a press conference, stating that officers from the San Antonio Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Anti-Gang Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, and U.S. Border Patrol participated in the operation. The chief confirmed that 20 individuals were taken into custody, with one identified as a confirmed TdA gang enforcer.
According to McManus, 15 individuals are being held on immigration detainers, while the four confirmed TdA gang members were taken into custody by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers. The chief emphasized the department’s commitment to public safety and vowed to continue targeting the TdA gang.
“We’re not done yet,” McManus warned, addressing the gang members directly. “We’re on to you, we’re coming for you, and we know where you are.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to the arrests, stating on social media, “We will not tolerate this gang in Texas.” In a recent interview, Abbott vowed to take action against the gang, saying, “Our goal is to find them, identify them, locate them, arrest them, and lock them up.”
Texas Congressman Chip Roy also weighed in on the issue, attributing the presence of TdA gang members in the state to the open border policies implemented by the Biden administration. Roy thanked law enforcement officers for their efforts in arresting the gang members, highlighting the need for continued action to address the issue.
