Over the past decade, there have been student protests at universities like the University of Missouri, and students at places like Michigan and Middlebury have shut down and harassed speakers they disagreed with. Critics used to say, “just wait until they enter the real world.”

Now, we see that the joke is on us. These intolerant individuals have infiltrated newsrooms, getting their bosses fired for publishing op-eds they disagree with, all while claiming these opinions pose a threat. They have also become the enforcers of political correctness in HR departments and academia.

The angry mobs have now taken over corporate America and use social media to spread their intolerance.

It is no longer safe to be complacent in 2024. We may find it amusing to mock the entitled protestors on campuses, but they will soon enter the adult world without a meal plan and face consequences for their actions.

While it may seem satisfying to think that law firms and judges will not hire students boycotting exams to support controversial causes, the reality is that these individuals will likely have influential positions in the future.

The recent projection of flames on the U.S. flag by protestors at George Washington University may seem extreme, but it should not be taken lightly. These students may soon be interning on K Street and will eventually occupy positions of power in institutions in Foggy Bottom.

If history repeats itself, these individuals will become entrenched in foreign service and bureaucracy, posing a challenge to democracy and the values of the United States.
