The 2024 presidential campaign is well underway with both parties having nominated their candidates earlier than ever before. As we focus on the Electoral College map, it’s important to analyze past elections to predict potential outcomes.

In 2016, Donald Trump shattered expectations by winning key states and securing a 306 to 232 victory in the Electoral College. However, in 2020, Joe Biden flipped some of those states and won with the same margin. Now, with a potential Trump-Biden rematch, Trump needs to secure his 2020 states plus key battleground states to reclaim the presidency.

With changes in electoral votes due to the 2020 census, Trump needs to focus on winning states like Georgia and Arizona where he currently leads in the polls. To reach 270 electoral votes, Trump could also target states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Wisconsin where he has narrow leads.

While there are other paths to victory for Trump, focusing on the Pennsylvania-Michigan-Wisconsin tier could be crucial. Ultimately, Trump’s task is challenging but achievable with the right strategy and a close eye on key battleground states. With a majority of voters disapproving of Biden’s performance, Trump has the opportunity to turn the tide in 2024.
