Silence Amidst Antisemitic Violence: LA Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Newsom Under Fire as Mob Targets Synagogue

0:00

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom (D) remained silent as an antisemitic mob targeted the Adas Torah synagogue in the city’s Jewish neighborhood of Pico-Robertson on Sunday. The mob gathered outside the synagogue, preventing people from entering.

Protesters surrounded the Adas Torah Orthodox Jewish synagogue, blocking access to the building, amid reports of verbal and physical confrontations between protesters and counter-protesters. Several protesters were detained, although no arrests were made, according to reports.

The violence was criticized on social media, with some users accusing the police of inaction and calling for the National Guard to intervene. Video footage showed police officers in tactical gear blocking off Pico Boulevard in front of the synagogue as clashes continued.

The altercation began with verbal confrontations before escalating into physical fights. Protesters were seen walking through Jewish neighborhoods, chanting “baby killers.”

Many have expressed concern over the rise of antisemitic violence, with some even considering relocating to Israel due to perceived threats.

Neither Bass nor Newsom had commented on the incident by Sunday evening, despite repeated requests from media outlets.
