McIlroy and Stoll, who share a three-year-old daughter named Poppy, first met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup where Stoll was working in the PGA’s transport office.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Ireland’s Ashford Castle in 2017. However, rumors of trouble in paradise surfaced when McIlroy failed to mention Stoll in a recent Mother’s Day message to his mom. Despite the sad turn of events, McIlroy’s media and communications team emphasized his intention to handle the situation with dignity and respect, stating that he would not be making any further comments.
The news of the divorce comes just before the upcoming PGA Championship in Kentucky, adding a personal turmoil to what would have been a professional milestone for McIlroy.
