Rep. Warnock Urges Democrats: Don’t Take Black Voters for Granted in 2024 Election

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) emphasized Saturday that black voters cannot be taken for granted in the 2024 presidential election between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This warning comes as polling data shows a decline in Biden’s support among black voters, with figures indicating a 20-point drop from 2020.

The Georgia Democrat, also a pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, has intertwined his two roles to promote the Biden-Harris administration’s record on issues crucial to black voters. Warnock highlighted the administration’s success in increasing black wealth by 60%, canceling student loan debt for 5 million people, and investing $16 billion in historically black colleges and universities.

Warnock acknowledged that work remains to be done, but emphasized that Joe Biden has a track record of supporting black America, contrasting this with Donald Trump’s issues. He praised the Biden-Harris campaign for not taking black voters for granted, stating that black voters cannot be assumed to simply show up to vote.

The senator’s comments come as Trump held a rally at Temple University in Philadelphia, aimed at courting black voters. Warnock likened the 2024 election to his own 2022 Senate campaign, where he emphasized the contrast between himself and his opponent Herschel Walker.
