A deadly terror attack unfolded in central Israel on Sunday morning, leaving two civilians dead and two others wounded, according to local authorities. The attack, which took place in the city of Holon, near Tel Aviv, involved a Palestinian terrorist from the West Bank who carried out a series of stabbings at three separate locations.
The assailant’s rampage was eventually brought to an end when a police officer shot and killed him, but not before he had inflicted fatal wounds on two victims and injured two others. The stabbings occurred during the morning rush hour, causing chaos and panic in the area.
Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service medics described the attack as “complex and difficult,” with the victims located at three separate sites, approximately 500 meters apart. The medics rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance to the wounded and confirmed the deaths of the two victims.
The Islamist group Hamas, which has been at war with Israel in Gaza, claimed responsibility for the attack, calling it a “natural response” to Israeli actions against Palestinians and the recent assassination of its leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.
