My Experience Riding Saga’s HoloBike Took an Unexpected Turn

Matson shared with me his dislike for wearing a headset while working out, noting that parents also find it cumbersome because they need to be aware of their surroundings. On the other hand, I personally prefer to exercise without any distractions, as I am not a fan of working out and will use any excuse to avoid it.

For high-endurance athletes, Saga’s offerings may seem limited. The company plans to ship their bikes with only three to four trails, each around 20 kilometers long. This pales in comparison to NordicTrack’s extensive library of rides of varying lengths and levels, as well as other bikes that integrate with popular cycling platforms and provide detailed fitness data.

While HoloBike may not offer the same features as other bikes, its augmented reality technology makes the riding experience more immersive. The ability to virtually explore places like the streets of Mumbai or fictional locations adds an exciting element to the workout.

One potential drawback is the starting price tag of $2,599 on Kickstarter, with expected delivery in the winter of 2024-2025. This may be a significant investment for some, especially considering the limited number of trails available. Personally, I would prefer a bike that simulates the outdoor riding experience more accurately and for longer durations.
