Marjorie Taylor Greene says FBI and DOJ planned to kill Trump

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed the FBI and Justice Department were planning to assassinate former President Donald Trump after details about their search on Mar-a-Lago were made public.

In a post on X, the congresswoman said, “The Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump and gave the green light. Does everyone get it yet???!!!!”

On Tuesday, the FBI released a statement saying its language authorizing deadly force was standard protocol.

“The FBI followed standard protocol in this search as we do for all search warrants, which includes a standard policy statement limiting the use of deadly force,” the agency said. “No one ordered additional steps to be taken and there was no departure from the norm in this matter.”

After touting her efforts to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for continuing to fund the DOJ and FBI, Greene called his decision not to listen to her “unforgivable.”

“Speaker Mike Johnson fully funded the DOJ and FBI plus new building and tied our hands behind our backs to hold them accountable,” she wrote in a follow-up post. “We have the power of the purse and Johnson has handed the purse to Chuck Schumer.”

This is not the first time Greene has warned about an assassination attempt against Trump. In a recent interview with radio host Alex Jones, Greene made a similar claim.

“They want President Trump dead,” she said in April. “They want to lock him up in jail for the rest of his life, so that he dies in jail, and they want to take away his Secret Service protection so that he is murdered somewhere in jail, possibly. This is how serious they are.”

On Aug. 8, 2022, the FBI made a surprise search of the former president’s Florida residence. The agency obtained classified materials Trump brought back to his Florida resort after leaving office.
