Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina recently showed his gratitude to a fraternity at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill for their efforts in protecting the American flag from protests. A group of UNC Pi Kappa Phi members prevented the flag from being desecrated by pro-Palestinian protesters by surrounding the flag pole and holding it up. Senator Graham praised their actions in a video posted on Twitter, expressing pride in their courage and love for the country. As a token of appreciation, he mentioned that Chick-fil-A was on its way to the fraternity, courtesy of Team Graham.
Following this incident, an anonymous group raised over $516,000 through a fundraiser to throw a party for the fraternity members. The event, now named “Flagstock,” will feature performances by musician John Rich and unlimited supply of Ultra Right Beer. Other musicians have also shown interest in participating in the patriotic celebration.
In response to the protests, six individuals were arrested on the UNC campus and charged with various offenses, including resisting law enforcement and assaulting an officer. Senator Graham’s gesture and the support shown by the community highlight the importance of defending national symbols and values.
