Mark Zuckerberg’s Instagram issued a warning against tagging former Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson in a “happy birthday” post on Thursday, citing that the prominent journalist has a history of violating “Community Guidelines.”

A simple “happy birthday” post for Tucker Carlson on Thursday triggered a warning from Instagram, causing social media users to reconsider tagging the former Fox News host in a Story.

“Happy birthday, @tuckercarlson!” read a draft in an Instagram Story, which was immediately met with a warning from the platform.

“This account has repeatedly posted false information that was reviewed by independent fact checkers or went against our Community Guidelines. Do you want to mention this account?” the warning read, providing users with the options to “cancel” or “mention anyway.”

Carlson, a highly influential journalist in the United States who now operates his own network, the Tucker Carlson Network, celebrated his 55th birthday on Thursday.

Instagram has yet to respond to Truth Voices’ request for clarification on the issuance of this warning.

Earlier this year, Carlson conducted an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he repeatedly urged Putin to release jailed Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich.

“I want to ask you directly — if, as a sign of your decency, you would be willing to release [Gershkovich] to us and we’ll bring him back to the United States,” Carlson inquired, to which Putin responded, “We have done so many gestures of good will, out of decency, that I think we have run out of them.”

Putin added that he could envision Gershkovich returning to the United States someday if an agreement is brokered between Moscow and Washington.

Carlson countered Putin, asserting that the incarcerated Wall Street Journal reporter “is obviously not a spy,” adding, “It’s not fair to ask for somebody else in exchange” for Gershkovich.

Last month, Carlson advocated for “extremism” from American parents in defending their children against leftist Democrat ideologies.
