A 47-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts, including vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, reckless driving, and driving without a commercial driver’s license, in connection with a deadly vehicle crash in Bailey, Colorado.

According to authorities, Cruz-Mendoza, who has been deported from the United States 16 times over the last two decades, was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

The accident resulted in the death of 64-year-old Scott Miller, who was killed on the scene. Another driver in a separate vehicle suffered serious injuries and is being treated at a nearby hospital.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have confirmed that Cruz-Mendoza is an illegal alien and have placed a detainer on him, requesting that Jefferson County police custody him if he is released at any time.
