The VFX company DNEG, known for its work on popular films like Dune and Oppenheimer, is reportedly planning to lay off hundreds of employees as it struggles to recover from industry-wide strikes. The layoffs are expected to affect around 5 percent of the workforce in the U.K. and Canada. The decision comes amidst continuing challenges in the market, even after the Hollywood strikes ended. Union representatives are offering support to affected employees, recognizing the difficult year faced by many in the film and TV industry. DNEG had previously laid off over 70 employees last year and asked remaining staff to take a pay cut. Despite hopes for improvement, the situation has not improved as expected.
