A family of taekwondo instructors in Texas sprang into action to save a woman from an apparent sexual assault after hearing her screams near their dojo. By the time sheriff’s deputies arrived at the neighboring Cricket Wireless store, the instructors had already subdued the suspect, pinning him to the ground.

Grandmaster Han An, the father, quickly took control of the situation, using his training and discipline to take the suspect down. His sons, Simon and Christian An, also joined the scuffle, with Simon using his taekwondo skills to keep the suspect pinned to the ground.

The victim, along with her mother, Hong An, was escorted safely out of the situation and into the gym. The suspect, 19-year-old Alex Robinson, was charged with attempted sexual assault, unlawful detention, and another assault charge for fighting with the martial arts instructors.

Despite their heroic actions, the An family is humble about their role in the incident. “I thank everybody who’s calling us heroes, but, still, I think anybody can do it,” Hannah said. Grandmaster An added that he was just glad to be in the right place at the right time and that his life is dedicated to taekwondo. The family is also accepting new taekwondo students.
