Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini Live, is set to expand its language capabilities, with support for over 40 languages to be rolled out in the coming weeks. This development will enable users to engage in more natural and free-flowing conversations with the virtual assistant.
Gemini Live is designed to facilitate a range of activities, from brainstorming ideas and exploring topics of interest to practicing job interview questions and receiving real-time feedback. While Google likens the experience to conversing with a friend, it remains to be seen how many users will take full advantage of its capabilities.
One of the notable features of Gemini Live is its ability to support multiple languages on a single device. Users will be able to switch between two languages, and this functionality will also be integrated with other Google apps and services, such as Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Utilities.
To access the language settings, users can navigate to the Google app on their Android device, go to Settings, and then select Google Assistant and Languages. From there, they can choose their preferred language and add a secondary language if desired.
For now, Gemini Live is exclusive to Android devices, with no announced plans for an iOS release. This strategic decision may be an attempt by Google to attract users to its mobile platform, highlighting the unique features and capabilities of its ecosystem.
