In Washington, D.C., there are few alphabet agencies that people would miss if they were to disappear tomorrow. However, if given the chance to eliminate one, it is likely that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would be chosen by many.

The EPA itself acknowledges criticisms on its website, stating that environmental regulation can be costly, hinder economic growth, impact international competitiveness, and lead to job loss and plant closures.

Recently, the White Coat Waste Project revealed disturbing information about the EPA launching a new campaign that involves using animals for experiments that many deem unnecessary and cruel. Under the Trump administration, there was an initiative to phase out animal testing by 2035 and retire rabbits from EPA labs, but recent investigations suggest that the Biden administration has abandoned this plan and resumed animal testing practices.

It has come to light that the EPA is conducting these experiments at the request of several environmental and social justice groups, including well-known organizations like the National Resources Defense Council and the Sierra Club. These experiments include studying the effects of firearms emissions and the impact of global warming and wildfires on those with poor dietary habits.

Members of Congress, from both parties, are calling for answers from the EPA regarding these actions. Public outcry is necessary to demand accountability from the agency.

Hannah Cox, the president and co-founder of BASEDPolitics and a fellow for the White Coat Waste Project, has raised concerns about the EPA’s involvement in these controversial experiments.
