David Axelrod, CNN’s senior political commentator and former Obama advisor, suggested that President Joe Biden’s campaign staff have been misleading him about his chances of winning the election. Speaking on CNN’s “The Source”, Axelrod said that when questioned about his campaign’s prospects, Biden has lacked convincing answers about what voters could expect from him in the future, given current developments.
According to Axelrod, attitudes among voters have become hardened and unchanged. He doesn’t think Biden will alter them anytime soon. The former advisor pointed out that Biden hinted that his mind could be changed if his team advised him that he couldn’t win, or that someone else stood a better chance of winning. However, if this isn’t happening, it raises questions about whether the campaign is providing him with truthful information about the state of the race.
Axelrod believes that Biden is in a challenging situation, and that he deserves an accurate understanding of the campaign’s chances of success. “It’s not fair to him if they’re not telling him the truth,” Axelrod said, implying that he looks at the current numbers and knows that winning this election would be difficult, at best, for Biden.
