Costco has issued a recall of over 567,000 portable battery chargers, citing numerous reports of overheating and two residential fires that resulted in approximately $165,000 in property damage.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) told consumers to “immediately stop” using the myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh portable chargers with model numbers AO10FK-A, AO10FK-B, and AO10FK-C in a Thursday notice.
The chargers have been linked to 120 reports of overheating, including the two reported fires, but no injuries requiring medical attention have been reported. Consumers are advised to “immediately stop” using the devices and to handle them with caution to prevent any further incidents.
Recalled devices should not be disposed of in normal trash bins or designated battery recycling boxes, but instead should be taken to a local recycling center for disposal. myCharge is offering free replacements to customers who contact the company.
