Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Democrat-turned-Independent presidential candidate, has suspended his campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election. In a surprise move, Kennedy Jr. expressed his gratitude to his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, for her unwavering support, despite her reported discomfort with his decision.
Hines took to social media to thank the team that worked on her husband’s campaign, acknowledging their remarkable achievements despite facing numerous obstacles. “They have accomplished feats that were said to be impossible,” she wrote, highlighting the campaign’s success in gathering over a million signatures and achieving ballot access across the country.
Hines also reflected on the experience of meeting people from various parties, including Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, during her husband’s campaign. She noted that the majority of individuals she met were genuinely good people who shared a desire for the best for the country and for each other.
Kennedy Jr. responded to his wife’s post, expressing his appreciation for her unconditional love and support. He emphasized the importance of love and unity, even in the face of disagreement, and wished for the country to adopt a similar approach.
The suspension of Kennedy Jr.’s campaign comes after he announced that he would not be actively competing in battleground states, instead throwing his support behind Trump. However, he urged residents of blue states to continue voting for him. Kennedy Jr. also criticized the Democratic primary, labeling it a “sham” that was “rigged” to prevent a challenge to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a scathing attack on his former party, Kennedy Jr. accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of installing Harris as their nominee, despite her unpopularity among voters. He pointed out that Harris had dropped out of the 2020 presidential race without winning a single delegate, highlighting the undemocratic nature of the DNC’s decision.
