Just two weeks before an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, actress Lea DeLaria, known for her role in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, publicly urged President Joe Biden to “blow him up” in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity. DeLaria’s inflammatory post, which has since been deleted, was shared with her 1.1 million Instagram followers.
On Saturday, Trump was the target of a violent attack during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The 45th president was physically injured and rushed off stage by the U.S. Secret Service after shots were fired, with at least one bullet appearing to have hit him in the ear. Graphic images and videos of the scene flooded social media, showing what appears to be blood on Trump’s face.
Representative Dan Meuser (R-PA), who was in the front row at the rally, reported hearing eight to ten shots during the attempted assassination. Meuser added that it appears multiple people in the crowd may have been hit and were down, describing the sound of the weapon as similar to a.22 or small caliber gun.
