It’s no secret that modern movies are lacking in quality. While many blame woke culture for this decline, the issue runs deeper than that.

From the endless stream of Marvel sequels to the thinly veiled left-wing propaganda films, the movie industry is churning out content that is uninspired and repetitive. Both blockbuster action films and pretentious Oscar contenders have converged to create a film experience that is simply unbearable. The root of this problem? Money.

In a revealing interview with Variety Magazine, writer-director Taika Waititi admitted that he only joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe for financial reasons. He confessed that he had no interest in the comic book source material and took on the project to support his family. This lack of passion for the material is not unique to Waititi, as many other Hollywood stars have also admitted to taking on roles solely for the paycheck.

While making profitable films is a necessity for the industry, the current trend of sacrificing artistic integrity for financial gain is concerning. The latest movies, whether they be Marvel superhero flicks or politically charged dramas, all seem to prioritize virtue signaling over genuine storytelling. This shift in focus has created an echo chamber within the industry, where conformity to certain ideologies is rewarded and creativity is stifled.

Despite the financial pressures that Hollywood faces, there is still hope for a return to true artistry. The film industry has the power to inspire and shape our cultural heritage, but this potential is being overshadowed by a preoccupation with profit. It’s time for Hollywood to rediscover its passion for storytelling and break free from the cycle of mediocrity that currently plagues the industry.
