Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and former President Donald Trump rallied their supporters in a massive event in Virginia, the Virginian’s largest state, where Joe Biden won by a stunning 10% in 2020. Friday’s event marked a rare outing for Youngkin and Trump’s often-conflicted past had raised concerns about their working compatibility.

As the thousands of enthusiastic attendees began to settle in, Youngkin took the stage, introducing Trump. “It’s time to elect strength back into the White House,” he proclaimed, earning thunderous applause. “Let us now welcome the next President of the United States… Donald J. Trump!”

Trump couldn’t hide his enthusiasm in hearing such a glowing introduction coming from Youngkin, a one-time presidential rival. Youngkin went on to praise Trump openly, promising to get Biden out of office and bring Trump another term as President. The crowd let out an ear-splitting roar as Trump and Youngkin shake hands, showing a united front – a far cry from their previous tumult-ridden history.

Trump returned admiration for Youngkin, touting his effective policies and expressing that he is proud of his work record.

Trump and Youngkin’s joint appearance is intended to signal to Virginians that a unified GOP could flip the state red this November.

As the Virginia governor told Fox News just hours before the rally, “The president coming to Virginia today … is reflective of the fact that Virginia is in play.”

The rally preceded the impending GOP convention on which Trump was expected to announce his run-mate before the event scheduled for late August.
