One woman reported that her addiction to cheese became so severe that she had to seek help at a rehabilitation center.

Adela Cojab was a junior at New York University when she started having an unusual craving for cheese, according to the New York Post. Cojab mentioned that her dependence on the dairy product began because it was inexpensive. This habit led to a significant weight gain, making her a candidate for pre-diabetes.

“I would stop by either Morton Williams or Whole Foods and just buy cheese. I’d literally eat a block of cheese with my hands,” Cojab said.

Cojab eventually sought treatment at Hilton Head Health, a resort offering a week-long wellness program that includes a variety of fitness classes, wellness education, spa treatments, and gourmet healthy food, as stated on their website. After two weeks there, she learned to follow a healthier diet and managed to reverse the negative health impacts of her cheese addiction.

Cojab served as the president of the Zionist group Realize Israel, often experiencing added stress due to Israel’s conflict with Hamas. With pro-Palestinian protesters calling for ceasefires on the NYU campus, Cojab has become more vocal in her support for Israel. However, she admitted that she sometimes falls back into her cheese-eating habit.

Over 38,000 people follow Cojab on Instagram, where she continues to advocate for Israel and fight against antisemitism. This June, she is set to graduate from the Cardozo School of Law.
