The spouse of Sam Brown, a Republican candidate for the Nevada Senate, is speaking out against his opponent for using unflattering photos that highlight scars on Brown’s face from surviving an explosion in Afghanistan. Amy Brown criticized the ads from Dr. Jeffrey Gunter’s campaign, which emphasize Brown’s scars from his military service. She expressed pride in her husband’s resilience and sacrifice for the country, stating that his scars symbolize his strength.

Brown and Gunter are competing in a competitive Republican primary to challenge Democratic incumbent Jacky Rosen. Gunter’s campaign ad refers to Brown as a creature from the swamp, insinuating his ties to Mitch McConnell. Amy Brown condemned the ad for attacking a veteran’s physical disfigurement for political gain.

In response, Gunter defended the ad as a critique of Brown’s establishment connections, not his physical appearance. He argued that the ad was fair game in highlighting Brown’s ties to Washington D.C. and the political elite. The primary race has become increasingly contentious as candidates position themselves as either aligned with the Republican establishment or Trump loyalists.

Despite the attacks, Brown remains ahead in the polls leading up to the primary election. Super PACs supporting Brown and Gunter have launched ads criticizing each other’s allegiances and positions. The primary will determine who will face off against Rosen in the general election, a key target for Republicans looking to regain the Senate majority.
