Who Are Biden Voters Saving the Planet For If They’re Not Having Kids?

A new report from the Pew Research Center found that less than 20 percent of President Joe Biden’s supporters believe society benefits from prioritizing marriage and children. These voters are also the most likely to view “climate change” as an immediate existential threat. This raises the question: who are Biden voters saving the planet for if only a fraction of them want children?

According to Pew polling, 59% of Trump supporters believe society is better off if people marry and have children, compared to just 19% of Biden supporters.

Another Pew report from last summer showed that Democrats overwhelmingly see climate change as a “major threat,” with 78% believing this compared to 23% of Republicans. Democrats also favor expensive solutions to tackle the issue, with 59% calling climate change a “top priority.”

Additionally, a 2020 Morning Consult survey found Democrats are more than twice as likely as Republicans to cite climate change as a reason for remaining childless. Over 32% of Democrats said climate change was at least a minor reason for not having children, compared to just 16% of Republicans.

The American birthrate reached a record low in 2023, according to the CDC. Morgan Stanley warned three years ago that the “movement to not have children due to climate change fears is growing and affecting fertility rates faster than any previous trend.”

Far-left climate activists, like Biden’s BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning, argue that children are an environmental burden threatening the planet’s resources. Despite constant warnings of a “world on fire,” the planet can sustain future generations. Michael Shellenberger, in his book Apocalypse Never, notes that mid-20th-century predictions of global catastrophe from overpopulation never materialized.

“Danish economist Ester Boserup found that as the population increased, people innovated to boost food production,” Shellenberger wrote. “By 1987, demographers knew the number of humans added annually to the global population had peaked.”

Today, the Earth’s climate is the safest it’s ever been, thanks to innovation and fossil fuels. Climate-related deaths have dropped by over 98% since 1900. Weather-related deaths accounted for 0.07% worldwide and 0.01% in the U.S. between 1980 and 2014. The rate of climate mortality has decreased even as the planet warmed by 1 degree Celsius since the Little Ice Age, despite higher pollution levels.

Wildfires and hurricanes are also declining, reducing the cost of climate-related disasters as a share of GDP.

President Biden, however, has prioritized fighting “climate change” to save the planet, spending billions on subsidies for environmentally harmful renewable energy. But if his supporters don’t plan to have children, for whom is the Earth worth allegedly saving?
