A daring rescue unfolded on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee on Wednesday, leaving locals in awe of a 17-year-old’s bravery.

In Smith’s Cove, a boat piloted by a local sailing association instructor began to spin out of control after the captain fell overboard while trying to retrieve a tennis ball. The vessel, carrying children, careened wildly, putting everyone on the lake in peril. That’s when Brady Procon, just 17, sprang into action.

Procon’s father alerted him to the emergency, and he immediately sprang into action. After helping the children safely away from the unmanned boat, he commandeered a neighbor’s jet ski to track down the wayward vessel.

Procon described his actions as a spur-of-the-moment decision, saying, “I don’t know. It just came to me. I didn’t really think; I just did it.”

Video footage shows the boat spinning in circles as onlookers watched in horror. Procon then jumped onto the unmanned boat and brought it to a halt in mere seconds, earning applause from those watching.

Social media users were quick to react to the video, with one person writing, “You can’t teach this kind of courage.” Others praised Procon’s heroism, saying, “It’s like watching an action movie hero” and “The MAN!! The legend!! Makes us proud.”

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and Procon’s bravery has earned him widespread acclaim. Despite being a little shaken by the experience, Procon said, “I’m a little, I’m realizing what I did, a little bit scared me, but it was fun, I’d do it again.”

Neighbors are relieved that the situation didn’t turn out worse and are grateful that Procon was there to help.
