A campaign office for Vice President Kamala Harris in Tempe, Arizona, was struck by gunfire, was targeted in a shooting incident, according to Arizona police. The Tempe Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that what appeared to be gunfire damage was discovered at the Democratic National Committee campaign office.

Sgt. Ryan Cook, a Public Information Officer, stated that the incident occurred during overnight hours, but fortunately, no one was injured. However, the shooting has raised concerns about the safety of staff members and those in the surrounding area.

The incident was reported by workers on Monday, who claimed to have heard what sounded like gunshots hitting the front windows of the office. This is the second time in two weeks that the campaign office has been targeted, following a similar incident on September 16, in which the front windows were damaged by what appeared to be a BB gun or pellet gun.

The shooting has heightened security concerns, particularly in light of two recent assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump. Vice President Harris has spoken out about the need for increased security measures, saying, “I am thankful that former President Trump is safe… As President Biden said, our Administration will ensure the Secret Service has every resource, capability, and protective measure necessary to carry out its critical mission.”

Harris also emphasized the importance of ensuring that incidents like this do not lead to more violence, saying, “I am committed to doing my part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence.”
