Voters Unimpressed: Harris’s Support Falters Despite Media Boost

A recent Rasmussen Reports survey has revealed that the public’s enthusiasm for Vice President Kamala Harris has waned, leaving her campaign stagnant nearly two months after President Joe Biden’s endorsement.

The latest survey, shared on Thursday, shows a head-to-head matchup between Harris and former President Donald Trump with Trump leading 49% to 47%. Other polls also indicate that Trump is ahead in key battleground states.

According to the survey analysis, the September 10 televised debate between the two candidates has had no significant impact on the polls, with Trump maintaining a 49% to 47% lead over Harris.

However, the survey did reveal a notable shift in Harris’s favor among independent voters, with Trump now leading 49% to 45% among unaffiliated voters, down from a 12-point lead in the previous week.

Despite the media’s efforts to boost Harris, who has conducted a historically low number of interviews for a presidential candidate, the stagnant polling suggests that voters are seeking more substance from the candidate.

The Rasmussen survey of 1,000 likely voters confirms that the race is extremely close, if not tied, with other polls, such as a New York Times survey, showing a 47% to 47% tie.

Rasmussen pollster Mark Mitchell has been posting overnight results of the 2024 election, and Trump has been trending ahead of Harris, although the numbers fluctuate significantly.

For instance, in his Wednesday results, Trump led Harris 52% to 44%. Mitchell averages several days’ results before posting a weekly campaign update on Thursdays for accuracy.
