Former President Donald Trump believes he can win Virginia, according to State Senator John McGuire (R-VA), who is running for Rep. Bob Good’s (R-VA) congressional seat. During an appearance on Truth Voices Saturday, McGuire stated that Trump is the “soul of the Republican Party.”

McGuire mentioned a recent conversation with Trump in Mar-a-Lago, where the former president expressed confidence in winning Virginia.

“And I think there’s a lot of excitement for Trump in Virginia as I campaign all over the Fifth Congressional District and the state,” McGuire said, noting that Trump has gained support in areas where he previously hadn’t. He highlighted Trump’s record-setting rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, as an example of this enthusiasm.

“He set a record for a political rally in New Jersey, with over 100,000 people. So I’m excited for Trump to win Virginia and the White House again. We can’t survive four more years of Biden’s America last policies,” he said, emphasizing that they are “fighting for the soul of the Republican Party” and that Trump embodies that soul.

McGuire admitted he wasn’t interested in politics until Trump’s presidential bid. “When Trump came down the escalator and I listened to him, I believed he meant what he said. He was the first person I ever donated to, and I’ve been with him ever since.”

He continued by saying that both he and Trump have built a coalition across Virginia. “President Trump has united all factions of our party. We’re seeing a swing towards us, especially from independents, due to President Biden’s policies.”

“For small farmers and people barely making it, the rising costs of gas, bread, and milk make it harder to survive. This situation is the best advertisement for Trump, as we cannot endure four more years under Biden. I’m hearing from people all over the district who have never supported Trump but are now backing him, particularly among minorities,” he concluded, stating that Virginia “is in play.”
