Van Jones: ‘A Bullet Couldn’t Stop Trump, But a Virus Stopped Biden’

As the Republican National Convention enters its third night, a sense of unity is palpable among party members. In contrast, the Democratic Party is descending into chaos. The push to get President Biden to step aside has gained momentum, and CNN’s Van Jones delivered a scathing assessment of his party’s state: “A bullet couldn’t stop Trump. A virus just stopped Biden…The Democrats are coming apart. The Republicans are coming together.” Jones, known for his candid observations, added that Biden is “having his butt kicked by his own party.”

Jones has a reputation for both accuracy and inaccuracy. He correctly predicted the collapse of the Obama coalition, but also made a misstep when he likened JD Vance to a virus. However, he is willing to criticize his own party when necessary. In 2016, he warned Democrats that Trump could become president, highlighting the potential for Trump to breach the party’s “blue wall,” which ultimately occurred.

The Democratic Party is facing a tumultuous period. With Nancy Pelosi’s blessing, Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) has called on Biden to drop out of the race. Schiff, a prominent House Democrat and former chair of the House Intelligence Committee, warned donors that Biden risks wiping out Democrats just 16 weeks from Election Day. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also had a blunt conversation with the president, with Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) sharing similar sentiments.

Adding to the turmoil, Biden was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday, forcing him to cancel his address to UnidosUS in Las Vegas, Nevada. With the president stating that he would leave the race if a medical issue arose, this development is a stark coincidence.
