An individual who unlawfully crossed the United States-Mexico border and was not detained is now accused of raping a child in the sanctuary state of Massachusetts.
Yader Alexander Morales-Quevedo, a 24-year-old from Guatemala, entered the United States undetected by Border Patrol — becoming one of the numerous “got-aways” about whom the federal government has minimal information.
In January 2023, Morales-Quevedo was arraigned in the Bristol County Superior Court on charges of child rape and posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct.
On May 28, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents apprehended Morales-Quevedo. ICE officials stated he would remain in custody pending the outcome of the child rape charges against him.
Since President Joe Biden assumed office in early 2021, nearly two million individuals who crossed the southern border unlawfully have avoided detention.
