AMITE, La. — A search is in progress for two Louisiana inmates who broke out of the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Sunday.
Omarion Hookfin, 19, and Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, have evaded capture since their escape alongside two other inmates: Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21.
The inmates made their getaway during recreation time in the prison yard. They exploited a weak point in the perimeter fence, slipping through a small hole to escape.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reported that Guidry and Johnson were discovered hiding in a dumpster outside a Dollar General Store on Monday morning.
Johnson, Hookfin, and Guidry were incarcerated for a 2022 murder, while Cyprian was serving time for armed robbery and weapon charges, per the sheriff’s office.
