In a blistering response, former President Trump targeted actor and Democrat donor George Clooney for penning an op-ed in The New York Times urging President Biden to step aside. This comes on the heels of Clooney co-hosting a major fundraiser supporting the Democrat just weeks prior.
“I love Joe Biden,” Clooney wrote. “But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.” Trump seized on the opportunity to discredit Clooney’s sudden about-face, accusing the actor of “getting into the act” alongside former President Obama, who allegedly okayed the op-ed before publication.
Trump also attacked Clooney’s credentials, dismissing his expertise on politics and saying the actor “uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the ‘worst President in the history of the United States,’ has ‘saved our Democracy.'”
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump lambasted Clooney and Biden, claiming the president has “weakened” American democracy through his policies, including “weaponizing” law enforcement, inflating the economy, and botching foreign policy.
Trump’s criticisms were echoed by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who expressed disbelief that Clooney had taken so long to speak out about Biden’s apparent decline. “If Biden didn’t do the debate, where have you been for two years?” Portnoy asked.
