Presidential candidate Donald Trump addressed the National Rifle Association and floated the possibility of a third term in office.

Trump energized the Dallas, Texas, audience by asking their thoughts on a potential third term.

“You know, FDR 16 years, almost 16 years, he was four-term. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term or two-term?” Trump questioned. “Are we three-term or two-term if we win?”

The crowd responded with chants of “three.” During the annual meeting, the NRA endorsed Trump for the presidency in the upcoming November election.

Trump has consistently denied intentions to challenge the 22nd Amendment, which has limited presidents to two terms since 1951. In an interview last month, the former president stated he “wouldn’t be in favor of a challenge.”

Franklin Delano Roosevelt remains the only U.S. president to have served more than two terms, holding office for a total of 16 years.
