At a rally in Novi, Michigan, former President Donald Trump secured the endorsement of several prominent Muslim leaders, including Imam Belal Alzuhairi and Mayor Bill Bazzi of Dearborn Heights. The leaders took the stage to declare their support for Trump, citing his commitment to peace and family values.

Alzuhairi, a highly respected Imam, praised Trump as the “president of peace” and expressed his confidence that the former president could bring an end to wars worldwide. He also credited God with saving Trump’s life twice, suggesting that the Almighty had a purpose for Trump’s continued existence. Alzuhairi emphasized that Muslims support Trump because of his commitment to family values, particularly in education, and his promise to protect the well-being of children.

Bazzi, the first Muslim and Arab American elected mayor of Dearborn Heights, joined Alzuhairi in endorsing Trump. He echoed the Imam’s sentiments, stating that Trump’s election would bring an end to wars and make America and the world safer. Bazzi also praised Trump’s stance on immigration, stating that anyone who wants to enter the country is welcome, but must do so through legal channels.

The endorsement comes at a time when the Muslim and Arab community has expressed disappointment with the Biden-Harris Administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war. A recent poll by the Arab American Institute found that Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris among Arab Americans, with 46% of respondents supporting Trump and 42% supporting Harris.

This shift in support is significant, as Arab Americans have traditionally been loyal to the Democratic Party. However, the poll found that only 63% of Arab Americans are excited about voting in the presidential election, down from the 80% range in previous elections. The poll also revealed that 35% of Arab Americans identify as Republicans, while 24% identify as Democrats.
