In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump highlighted the challenges faced by American women, claiming that they are worse off now than they were four years ago. Trump, who is currently running against Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency, stated that women are struggling with poverty, poor health, and safety concerns.
He also noted that women are experiencing higher levels of depression, unhappiness, and pessimism about the future. Trump vowed to address these issues, promising to restore happiness, health, confidence, and freedom to American women.
Trump also touched on the topic of abortion, stating that it is now a state-level issue, decided by the people. He emphasized the importance of exceptions surrounding abortion, suggesting that this approach would alleviate concerns about access to reproductive healthcare.
The Trump campaign has been working to rebrand the Republican Party as the “party of women.” In a speech at the National Federation of Republican Women’s Spring 2024 Board Meeting, national press secretary Karoline Leavitt pushed back against Democratic claims that their party is the true champion of women’s rights.
“We’re tired of hearing that the Democratic Party is the party of women,” Leavitt said. “The Republican Party is the party of women, and we’re committed to supporting and empowering them.”
During his speech at the Republican National Convention in July, Trump highlighted the stories of Angel Families, including women who have been killed by alleged illegal aliens. He vowed to take action to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
“I promise to keep these killers and criminals out of our country,” Trump said.
Recent polling suggests that Trump’s message may be resonating with some women. An ABC News/Ipsos poll in May found that Trump had surged to a dead heat with President Joe Biden among suburban women, prior to Biden’s departure from the presidential race.
