Former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced it raised an impressive $52.8 million in online donations following his guilty conviction in a criminal hush money case.

On Friday morning, just over 12 hours after the verdict, the campaign revealed it had raised $34.8 million. This claim remains unverified until the Federal Election Commission releases its report on fundraising numbers.

“The Trump campaign has raised $52.8 million through the online digital fundraising platform,” stated the campaign. “THAT’S MORE THAN $2 MILLION PER HOUR!”

In addition to narrowing the significant fundraising gap between President Joe Biden’s campaign and the Trump team, nearly one-third of the donors contributed to the campaign for the first time. These new donors can now potentially become repeat donors with the campaign having their contact information.

“With more than one third of these donors being new to the campaign, it is clear that more and more Americans are seeing through the Biden election interference and joining President Trump in the movement to save our nation,” the statement said.

If the reported figures are correct, the guilty verdict led to the most successful 24-hour fundraising period for either candidate this cycle. The $52 million sum indicates Trump raised more money in one night than in the last six months of 2023 combined.

After Trump was arraigned in Georgia for his indictment, he raised $4 million in 2023 after his mug shot was released. On Thursday, Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

“This momentum is just getting started,” top campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in a joint statement.

The fundraising boost may have closed the lead Biden had over Trump. Cash on hand has consistently been an advantage for Biden, with his campaign having $84 million entering May, in comparison to Trump’s $49 million.
