In a recent interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, former President Donald Trump left the door open to pardoning President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, if he is reelected. Trump’s comments come as Hunter Biden faces sentencing for his conviction on three gun charges, with a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.

When asked if he would consider pardoning the first son, Trump replied, “I wouldn’t take it off the books.” He acknowledged that Hunter Biden’s actions have been problematic, stating, “Hunter’s a bad boy. There’s no question about it. He’s been a bad boy.” Trump referenced the “laptop from hell,” a reference to the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop, which contained emails and other documents that raised questions about his business dealings.

Trump also made a comparison to his own experience with the justice system, saying, “I could have gotten Hillary Clinton very easily” but chose not to. He claimed that he thought it would be “very bad” if she went to jail, implying that he wanted to avoid the appearance of partisanship. Trump also expressed surprise at the level of scrutiny he has faced, saying, “Who thinks that?” he would be targeted by the justice system in such a way.

Hunter Biden’s sentencing is scheduled for December 4, and the outcome of his case remains uncertain. Trump’s comments on the matter have sparked speculation about his potential motivations, but it is unclear whether he would ultimately choose to pardon the first son if reelected.
