New York Governor Kathy Hochul is facing criticism after referring to supporters of former President Donald Trump as “clowns” during an interview on CNN.
Speaking with CNN ahead of Trump’s rally in the Bronx, New York, Hochul stated, “Well, I’ll tell you what won’t make a difference at all, Jake, and that’s for Donald Trump to be a ringleader and invite all his clowns to a place like the Bronx.”
A clip of the interview circulated on social media, where many users expressed disapproval of the Governor’s remarks. Some criticized her for being disrespectful and arrogant, while others questioned her confidence in New York’s political landscape.
Despite expectations of a smaller turnout due to New York’s predominantly Democratic leaning, Trump’s rally attracted a surprisingly large crowd. While initial estimates suggested 3,500 attendees, the actual turnout was closer to 25,000, indicating significant support for the former president even in traditionally blue states.
