A devastating bike crash during the Tour of Austria has claimed the life of 25-year-old Norwegian cyclist Andre Drege. The incident occurred during the fourth stage of the race on Saturday, where Drege was competing for Team Coop-Repsol.

According to reports, Drege fell from his bike during the descent of the Großglockner, sustaining severe injuries. His team confirmed his death, expressing their deepest condolences to his family and friends.

While it is unclear if any other riders were involved in the crash, Drege was the only one seriously injured. The post-race presentations were cancelled as a mark of respect, and a memorial ride was held in his memory on Sunday.

Drege, a rising star in the cycling world, had achieved significant success this year, winning seven races and expected to make a breakthrough in the standings. He was also slated to move up to the World Tour level next year.

Italian cyclist Filippo Ganna won the stage, but the victory was overshadowed by the tragic events that unfolded. The cycling community is reeling from the loss of this young talent, and tributes are pouring in from fans and fellow riders alike.
