A gruesome discovery was made in a Colorado home in January, shedding new light on a cold case dating back to 2005. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that the remains of 16-year-old Amanda Leariel Overstreet, a teenager who vanished under mysterious circumstances, were found inside the property.

According to officials, a thorough investigation is underway, with authorities treating the case as a homicide. The agency revealed that forensic testing is currently being conducted on evidence collected from the scene, but a detailed timeline of events remains elusive. What’s striking, however, is that there is no record of Amanda ever being reported missing, sparking questions about how this case went undetected for so long.

The sheriff’s office took to its website on Friday to detail the discovery, releasing an image of the house where the remains were found. Authorities confirmed that the rest of Amanda’s body has yet to be located, and that she also had ties to Harris County, Texas.

Video footage obtained by investigators shows crews in hazmat suits and masks carefully exiting the house, highlighting the serious nature of the case. In a social media post, the sheriff’s office clarified that the home is now under new ownership, having been sold to a current owner who had no connection to the previous occupants. The agency urged the public to respect the property and avoid driving by or taking pictures, citing the sensitive nature of the case.
